The damping device uses a ratchet arm (4) pivoted into engagement with a cog wheel (15) attached to the mother shaft (14) and released upon energisation of an electromagnet. This has a coil supplied with current to generate a magnetic field exerting a torque on a rotary armature (8), for rotating it against the force of a spring bias, the movement of the ratchet arm (4) controlled by a pin (5) attached to the armature (8), fitting through a guide slot (6) in the ratchet arm (4). The coil is enclosed in a housing (1) of a permeable material with an E-shaped cross-section, coaxial to the axis of the shaft, the cooperating armature (8) housing at least one radial pole shoe (9). |
