The bedding support for mounting on a hospital bed has a U-shaped rack with hinge trunnions on a common axis engaging in a bracket, and sliding axially in both directions. The free ends of the trunnions face in opposite directions, and at least one of them, or its respective mounting, is of a length such that when the rack is slid for a set distance only one trunnion remains in its mounting. On sliding into the position in which each trunnion is in its mounting they are held there by expanding elastic components fitted onto them, the components typically of hard PVC or rubber. ADVANTAGE - Functioning is unaffected by long heat-sterilising when cleaning.
