The longitudinal tree trunk uses a power chain saw guided on two lateral rails (1.2) at each side of the trunk. The rails are interconnected by holding plates (7,8) inserted into internal grooves (3.4). The chain saw is so mounted that it can be moved along the guide rails on a roller fitted carriage (10). ADVANTAGE - Reduced preparatory work, and guide rail flexible mounting.
