PURPOSE:To obtain a humectant excellent in both effects and feeling of use. CONSTITUTION:A skin humectant for external use containing an extract of a saffron as an active ingredient. The extract of the saffron refers to an extract obtained by extracting ingredients of a stigma and a stylar upper part of the saffron. The aforementioned extract may be prepared by a method for drying e.g. the stigma and stylar upper part, adding a solvent (e.g. water, a 30-70wt.% aqueous solution of ethanol, ethanol, propylene glycol, 1,3-butylene glycol or isopropanol) to the dried stigma or stylar upper part, extracting the ingredients at ambient temperature for several days (e.g. 5-8 days) and filtering the obtained liquid. |
