Process for the production of an aryl triazolinone of the formula: <IMAGE> Formula I in which R is halogen, alkyl, haloalkyl, cyanoalkyl, arylalkyl, alkoxyalkyl, alkylthio, alkylsulfinyl, alkylsulfonyl, alkylthioalkyl, alkylsulfinylalkyl, alkylsulfonylalkyl or phenyl, each X is independently, H, halogen, lower alkyl, lower alkoxy, -NO2, -OH, -NHSO2R', -N(SO2R')2 or -N(R')SO2R' where R' is lower alkyl, and n is a number from 1 to 3, by treating an aryl triazolidinone of the formula: <IMAGE> Formula II with a halogen of the group consisting of chlorine, bromine and iodine, or a hypohalous acid of said halogen or a salt of said acid. |
