PURPOSE: To provide a flexible and chewable microcapsule which is hard to crush during chewing and shows improved, show and prolonged release of a drug contained in their core. The microcapsule is effectively used for preparing a chewing gum or other candies which are pharmaceutically effective, by selecting the drug to be added into the core. CONSTITUTION: The chewable and spheroidal microcapsule having a diameter smaller than about 850 μm has at least one spray-condensed spheroidal microcapsule core having a diameter smaller than about 200 μm, a first wax spray- coating layer on the core and a second oil-coating layer on the first coated layer. A coated microcapsule comprises (A) a microcapsule core containing (a) a drug, (b) a binder comprising edible substances of fatty acids, wax or the like having a melting point of about 25-100 deg.C and (c) an emulsifier, (B) the first wax spray-coating layer containing the above mentioned edible substances having a melting point of about 25-100 deg.C and the emulsifier and (C) the second oil-coating layer containing an edible vegetable oil having a melting point of about 25-95 deg.C. |
