A support unit 10 for a box like structure such as an audio-visual projector 11 or camera having an alignment axis A0 comprises a beam 14 with a longitudinal axis L having demountably located at each end a mounting bracket 16, 18 for securing to the box like structure, a carrier 21 for the beam 14 to which the beam is attached by means of a pivot 22 to allow the beam to pivot about a first axis A1 relative to the carrier, the beam passing through an interior region of the carrier, the interior region having a cross section which is complementary to the local external section of the beam so that the region serves to resist rotation of the beam about its longitudinal axis alignment means, such as threaded bolts 25, 26 mounted on the carrier whereby the beam can be positioned by rotation about the first axis A1, a header 35 to which the carrier 21 is attached by means of a second pivot to allow the carrier to tilt about a second axis A2 relative to the header; the second axis A2 being perpendicular to the first axis A1, arms 36, (37, Fig. 2) extending from the header 35 on either side of the carrier 21, a further alignment means, such as a threaded bolt 41, mounted in each arm whereby the carrier 21 can be caused to tilt, in either direction, about axis A2 and thereafter be retained on a second given angular displacement; and a coupling 42, 60 whereby the header 35 is secured to e.g. a mounting plate 50. <IMAGE> |
