<p>An end cap for a filter element comprises first and second concentric components of a thermoplastic material. The first of the components forms a side wall and a base of a peripheral groove of the end cap while the second of the components forms a second side of the peripheral groove. The first and second components are connected by a weld extending around the components in the region of the peripheral groove. The weld may be an ultrasonic weld. This prevents distortion of the components at high temperatures by strengthening the composite while allowing use of lightweight inexpensive components that have smooth sealing surfaces with no injection mould parting lines. <IMAGE></p> |
