The present invention is an apparatus for protection against attack by computer virus is effectuated by detecting virus and preventing virus attack at boot time. This is achieved by disabling modifications to storage devices of the system before the booting process and by detecting the presence of virus by checking integrity of the interrupt vectors of the system.
