摘要 PURPOSE:To obtain a film satisfying both of slip properties and an S/N ratio by generating fine unevenness on a surface by the irradiation with excimer laser beam and setting the height of the unevenness and the intervals between the apexes of said unevenness to limited dimensions and setting a surface roughness parameter Rt/Ra to a specific value. CONSTITUTION:A film is irradiated with excimer laser beam to generate unevenness and it is necessary that the height of the fine unevenness present on at least the single surface of the film is 0.001-below 0.01mum, the interval between the apexes of the unevenness is 10mum or less and the surface roughness parameter Rt/Ra is 15 or less. Further, it is necessary that the tension of the film at the time of the irradiation with excimer laser beam is 2kg/m or more in the longitudinal direction thereof and it is effective to irradiate the film with excimer laser beam with energy density of 0.005-0.21/cm<2>. Further, since a surface form is specified, this film can correspond to abrasion resistance and the enhancement of output for enhancing the quality of a future magnetic recording medium.
