LIQUID CRYSTAL DEVICE AND METHOD OF MANUFACTURING THE SAME

An improved liquid crystal display device is disclosed. The device is comprised of a pair of opposed substrates (1, 1') on whose opposing surfaces a number of electrode strips (2'; 30-1, 30-2, 30-3) are formed in a matrix. The electrode strips extend to near the peripheral edges (6) of the substrate surfaces which is unnecessary for defining the pixels of the display. By virtue of this provision of excess electrode strips, joining of the substrates together and sealing of the liquid crystal material (5) therebetween can be effected without need for special attention to be paid to the alignment of the substrates and of the electrode strips thereon.
