PURPOSE: To control a shift operation of a synchronized splitter type input section of a compound transmission with a comparatively simple method and efficiently. CONSTITUTION: A controller 68 is constituted to control an input section 12 of a manually shifted compound synchronized transmission 10 of a such type that a splitter type input section 12 is connected to a shifted synchronized multi- speed main transmission section 14 in series. The controller is operated when disengagement of the master clutch 20 and disconnection of a main transmission section 14 are sensed, the input section 12 is shifted to a disconnection N position, and is held on its position. After that, the input section 12 is shifted to a determined ratio (a high speed or low speed ratio). The control is operated in the case where the main transmission section 14 is on the disengagement position when a master clutch 20 is engaged, the input section 12 is momentarily shifted to one of a connection ratios, and synchronized jaw clutches of the main transmission section 14 is engaged in start-from-stop operations. |
