PURPOSE:To reduce the transmission loss to obtain a multi-direction transmission system of high performance by using an optical circulator for multiplexing and demultiplexing between up and down signals. CONSTITUTION:An optical circulator 4 is used for multiplexing and demultiplexing between up and down signals. In this case, a communication light generating part 2, a communication light reception part 3, and an optical fiber transmission line 1 are connected to ports 4-1, 4-3, and 4-2 of the circulator 4 respectively. If plural communication light generating parts 2 and communication light reception parts 3 are multiplexed, wavelength multiplexing bidirectional transmission is performed and individual communication light are multiplexed or demultiplexed by a multiplexer/demultiplexer 5 or an optical coupler 6 when communication light generated from communication light generating parts 2 are different in wavelength. When communication light generated from communication light generating parts 2 are equal or very close to one another, multidistribution bidirectional transmission is performed between MXN communication light generating parts 2 and communication light reception parts 3, and individual communication light are multiplexed/demultiplexed by the optical coupler used instead of the multiplexer/demultiplexer 5. |
