PURPOSE:To enhance lubrication performance to the areas of differential side oil seals, and thereby prolong the service life of each seals by taking every possible means such as the provision of grooves which communicate a differential housing with the differential side oil seal areas in the outer circumference of each bearing support section in the inner wall of a differential gear. CONSTITUTION:When an internal combustion engine is driven, a drive pinion 14 is rotated, a differential housing 18 is concurrently rotated via a ring gear 16 meshed with the pinion. Power is transmitted to a first and a second axle 28-1 and 28-2, and lubricant within a differential carrier 4 is concurrently splashed up by the pinion 14 and the ring gear 16. In this case, lubricant flows into a groove section 44 provided for the outer circumference of a first support section 36-1 in the inner wall of the differential carrier 4 so as to be supplied to the area of a first differential side oil seal 42-1. As a result, lubrication to the area of the first differential side oil seal 42-1 can be enhanced, and its service life can thereby be lengthened. Since each groove 44 is integrally formed with the inner wall of the differential carrier 4, the constitution can thereby be simplified.
