PURPOSE:To detect failure of a lock-up device which can fasten a pump impeller and a turbine runner of a fluid motion transmission device. CONSTITUTION:There are provided a pump rotational speed sensor 24 for detecting a rotational speed of a pump impeller 42, and a turbine rotational speed sensor 26 for detecting a rotational speed of a turbine runner 44. The horizontal speeds are detected from signals of both sensors. Occurrence of failure of a lock-up device is judged when fastening of the lock-up device 40 is commanded, the difference of the rotational speeds is a specified value or more, and a temperature 28 of operational oil is abruptly increased. |
