The stay cable, in particular for cable-stayed bridge, consisting of a bundle of identical strands each formed by several wires, each strand (21) having undergone additional drawing which has given it a hexagonal cross section and which has endowed it with maximum compactness, the stay cable consisting of strands (21) assembled without an intermediate free space.
