The step-in cross-country ski binding has an aperture or slot (4) taking a pin (5) fixed to the ski-boot when the slide-carriage (8) is open. The aperture is closed when the carriage returns to a closed position, trapping the pin. The carriage is held open by a lock (9) in the form of an upward-sloping wire spring clamp going through the hole. The spring head end (21) rests against the carriage end (7) wall in which is through-hole (22), when the carriage is open so as to lock the open position. An angled lever (15), pivot mounted on an axle (16) on the binding-housing (2), has a free end linked (14) to the carriage. USE/ADVANTAGE - The ski-boot is more easily attached to the ski binding by having a lock automatically holding the carriage open and moving it against spring force into the open hole into which a pin fits; after which the carriage is released to return to a closed position.
