Sepg. Pt and Pd in a mineral acid soln. by selectively pptg. the Pd as Pd2+ bromide by adding bromide ions to produce a Br/Pd ratio of at least 2.1 and an oxidising agent before heating the soln. to near its b.pt. USE/ADVANTAGE - Recovering noble metals from prim. and sec. raw material, esp. anode mud recovered from Ag electrolysis. The oxidising agent reduces the harmful effect of the chloride ions and allows an increase yield in Pd ppte. The chemicals used in the process are inexpensive and the appts. required is simple.
