A tidal pumping plant with a barrier and guide float for light liqs. esp. oil, consists of a pump housing (1) with a mixture inlet opening (2) in the upper part of its front end, an extensible two-part rising ramp (3) being mounted in the opening (2). The oil-water mixture, concentrated by the float (4), flows over the upper ramp edge (5) into a collection shaft (6) and, at the lowest point (7) of the shaft, is pumped by the prevailing hydrostatic pressure through a delivery pipe connection (8) and connected pipeline to collection vessels. USE/ADVANTAGE - The pumping plant is used for oil spill collection from tidal waters. The plant forms a combined oil collector and barrier in coastal regions.
