The spring element (7) inserted between the armature (3) and one end cheek of the coil (1) has a longer limb (9) fixed at its outer end to the armature (3), and a shorter limb (8) whereby it holds the armature (3) in its rest position. During closure of the armature (or of the movable yoke in an alternative embodiment) the longer limb (9) exerts an additional force on the moving part, overcompensating for remanent magnetisation. ADVANTAGE - Armature restoration, pole face rebound damping, and prevention of sticking are improved with simple structure having no effect on pull-in behaviour.
