PURPOSE:To provide a low cost ultrasonic motor having simple structure in which rotor can be rotate smoothly with only one type of ultrasonic vibration source with high output torque and the rotary operation can be controlled easily. CONSTITUTION:The ultrasonic motor comprises a stator 11 having vibration imparting face vibrating freely in the normal direction, means for vibrating the stator 11, and a rotor 13 abutting through a driving force converting means against the vibration imparting face. In an ultrasonic motor wherein the driving force converting means comprises an element for converting the vibration imparted by the vibration imparting face into rotary driving force of the rotor 13, the vibrating means vibrates the stator such that the displacement speed of the vibration imparting face is lower in the center of the rotor 13 than in the outer peripheral part thereof. |
