Telescopic sight mounting on rifle - has fixed front foot and linear sliding rear foot

The mounting for a telescopic sight on a rifle has a rigidly connected adaptor (7) with a fixed front foot (13). A rear foot (14) is attached to a slide (15), which moves in a longitudinal groove (16) in the adaptor (7). The feet (13,14) and the corresponding recesses (3,4) into which they engage, are shaped in plan-view roughly as isosceles triangles, tapering away from each other. The slide (15) can be forced backwards by a spring-loaded (20) bolt-part (18) with a wedge-shaped surface (19). The use of an eccentric rotary wedge (19) as the bolt-part (18), is also described. USE/ADVANTAGE - Repeatable precision mounting for telesocpic sights on rifles. The fabrication process is simplified.
