PURPOSE:To display the judgment result of a device for detecting and locating a fault of an electric power system after examining the propriety of the result. CONSTITUTION:A system state preserving means 31 preserves state-change data before and after the occurrence of a fault in system state data 5. When a fault occurs, a fault judging means 33 infers the fault based on fault judgment knowledge data 6 held by a fault knowledge preserving means 32 and system information before and after the fault. On the other hand, a fault reproducing means 34 which simulates the operation of protective relays simulates that which protective relay and switch operate when a fault occurs at the location where the fault is judged to have occurred from a before-fault system. Then a fault simulation result comparing means 35 compares the simulation result with the states of the protective relays and switches when the fault occurs and the propriety of the judgment result of this device is confirmed based on the comparison result.
