The apparatus is for selecting a channel band and for locking phase of frequency of the corresponding channel when channel change key signal is received. The apparatus includes a microprocessor for generating control signal to select a channel band, a gand selector for transmitting band selection signal to a tuner, a pre-scaler for decreasing the frequency of local frequency signal generated by a tuner, a frequency divider for dividing the local frequency according to the dividing data transmitted from the microprocess and for generating divided frequency of the selected channel, a reference frequency generator for generating reference frequency, a frequency and phase comparator for detecting phase and frequency error, and a loop filter for feeding the error signal back to the tuner so that the divided frequency is locked to the reference frequency.
