In a cement mixer with two parallel horizontal axles, two contra-rotating paddles within the same vessel turn to mix the materials. The novelty is that the two axles are so positioned apart such that the gap between an axle and the tip of the paddle mounted on the other axle is just large enough to allow the largest solid particle to pass between the two. Pref. the distance (A) between two horizontal parallel axles is such that a gap (B) just permits the passage of the largest solid particle being mixed. The mixer paddles on both axles are of the same dimensions. USE/ADVANTAGE - The arrangement prevents the aggregation of cement upon the paddle axles.
