The present invention relates to a closed sterilization system including an infeed device (100) for receiving a toxic product, first preparing means (300) for rendering the toxic or infectious product suitable for sterilization, sterilization means (800) for sterilizing the product, combustion means (900) for incinerating the sterilized product from the sterilizing means (800), and conveying means (18) for conveying the sterilized product from the sterilizing means (800) into the combustion means (900). The system further includes a first isolating means (700) positioned between the first preparing means (300) and the inlet of the sterilizing means (800) for isolating the product in the sterilizing means (800) from the product in the first preparing means (300). Second isolation means (710) are also positioned between the outlet of the sterilizing means (800) and the conveying means (18) for isolating the sterilized product from the product in sterilizing means (800). The first and second isolating means (700, 710) include a housing (701) having an inlet (50) and an outlet (60), conveying means (702, 703) disposed within the housing (701) for moving the product from the inlet (50) to the outlet (60) and for isolating the product being discharged from the outlet (60) from the product being received in the inlet (50). |
