<p>A valve block comprises a plurality of polygonal valve base plates 1, 4 sealingly engaged face-to-face and closing plates 5 for closing the free end faces. The or each base plate 1 is equipped with a plurality of individual electromagnetically operated valves carried in a recess thereof, a pressurised media supply connection common to all the valves and a pressurised media outlet connection associated with each valve. At least one valve base plate 1 is engaged with a base plate 4 having a pressurised media supply connection 32, means for generating an underpressure in a line 35, and an underpressure sensor 38.
