<p>In a method operating by distillation of air in a double column (1) coupled to a production column (2) operating by distillation of impure argon, elimination of the oxygen contained in the impure argon via catalytic conversion (at 18), elimination via adsorption of the product of this conversion (at 19), then elimination via distillation (at 4) of the nitrogen of the remaining gas, impure argon is produced by distillation (at 2), having an oxygen content less than approximately 1000 vpm, and the catalytic conversion is carried out by passing the impure argon and excess hydrogen, at around room temperature, over a catalytic bed (18) consisting of particles of at least one metal of the platinum family, supported on a particulate support having a high specific surface area. <IMAGE></p> |
