PURPOSE: To surely detect missed stitches under very different limiting conditions without previous troublesome adjustment. CONSTITUTION: An evaluating device 9 has a feature detector 23 inspecting the whole thread tension functions within each revolution period of a main shaft 15 according to a feature without regard to the generating place of the at least one selected feature and measuring a characteristic found for obtaining a characteristic analytical value, a memory device 26 for storing the detected analytical value at least while one revolution period is continued, and comparators 25, 27 forming a difference from an analytical value detected with respect to a presently progressing revolution period and a corresponding analytical value detected in an similar method in an at least preceding final revolution period to judge a missed stitch when this difference exceeds a prescribed value. |
