<p>Electrostatic powder coating apparatus comprises a spray module (8) located within a bight of a conveyor (3) having suspended from it a plurality of articles to be coated with powder prior to heat treatment to convert the powder into an adherent coat of paint or the like. The spray module comprises an impeller (8) able to rotate about a vertical axis and having charged powder projected towards its centre from a stationary nozzle (15) so that vanes on the impeller impart centrifugal force to the powder particles. The impeller and nozzle assembly may be reciprocated vertically so that the sprayed powder traverses the length of the suspended and moving articles. The powder spray nozzle comprises an inner metal tube (43) from which radial projections (44) extend towards a coaxial rod (42), the powder being charged electrostatically on its passage through the annular space between the tube and rod. <IMAGE></p> |
