PURPOSE:To attain the manufacturing cost reduction and mass-production of an ultra-magnetostrictive material and to produce a practical ultra- magnetostrictive material having arbitrary shape. CONSTITUTION:A rare earth-iron type magnetostrictive material is melted by means of high frequency induction melting, etc., and the resulting molten metal is cast in a mold heated with temp. gradient, by which a magnetostrictive alloy in which crystal orientation is controlled in the axial direction of the mold and which has sufficient magnetostrictive characteristics can be obtained. |
