Improvements relating to swing doors

A swing door 1 carries a pair of lever arms 8, 81 projecting laterally from its two sides, and power operated rams 16, 161 fixed to the door frame are adapted to engage selectively one or other of the arms to open the door in either direction. Rollers 11, 111 mounted at the ends of the arms and relatively displaced in the vertical direction to prevent fouling of the opposite ram in the fully open position are adapted to be engaged by shoes 18, 181 on the rams, and the hydraulic or pneumatic cylinders 12, 121 associated with the respective rams are correspondingly displaced and are pivotally mounted on brackets 13, 131 to allow the rams to follow the movement of the lever arms as the door opens. The ends of the cylinders nearer to the arms 8, 81 are carried by depending arms 20, 201 (not shown) pivoted to a cross-member 21 and connected by a light return spring 22 which urges the cylinders back to their normal positions after they have opened the door. Micro- .switches 29, 291 are engaged by adjustable stops 27, 271 on the door when the latter is fully open and control the reverse energization of the respective operative cylinder to retract the ram. A spring door closer is preferably provided to close the door. Energization of the appropriate cylinder to open the door may be controlled by an approaching person or vehicle actuating a floor pad or photoelectric means, the direction of opening being dependent on the direction of approach. Means may be provided to release or limit the hydraulic or pneumatic pressure if the door meets an obstruction.
