PURPOSE:To obtain a torque detecting method which can be used even at a place where the temperature gradient of the torque detecting part of a rotary machine temperature gradient of the torque detecting fluctuation so that noises caused by the temperature fluctuation do not intrude into the output signals of torque. CONSTITUTION:The magnetostriction component of a magnetostriction film 2 which is provided on the surface of a rotary shaft 1 is detected with a coil 3 which is provided as an exciting means and a detecting means so as to face the magnetostriction film 2 through a gap. The torque of the rotary shaft is detected based on the magnetostriction component. At this time, a conductive body or a magnetic body is not allowed to enter into the range wherein the magnetic field which is excited by the coil 3 and has the strength of 2 oersteds or more is applied. |
