PURPOSE:To obtain the subject new compound useful as an antifungal agent and carcinostatic agent by extracting a culture liquid produced by culturing Gambierdiscus toxicus belonging to Dinoflagellatae. CONSTITUTION:Gambierdiscus toxicus belonging to Dinoflagellatae is cultured and the supernatant of the culture liquid, etc., is extracted with methanol, etc. The extract is adsorbed to a synthetic adsorbent, the column is washed with a desalted water and the active fraction is extracted with an organic solvent and subjected to column chromatography, etc. Finally, the column is developed with a mixed solvent consisting of chloroform-methanol-water to obtain the compound of formula I (R1 is H or CH3; R2 is H or group of formula II; excluding the compound of formula wherein R1 is H and R2 is group of formula II). For example, the compound is GT-2 when R1 and R2 are H, GT-3 when R1 is H and R2 is group of formula II and GT-4 when R1 is CH3 and R2 is H. |
