<p>PURPOSE:To improve switching responsiveness, and reduce power consumption while preventing deterioration of fuel consumption and performance caused by clutch frictional force, in a cam timing control device for switching cam timing by electromagetic force. CONSTITUTION:When cam timing is switched by electromagnetic force, the time of electrification on an electromagnetic coil is set longer in such a condition that switching resistance is large, so that the frictional force of a clutch may be increased more than the switching resistance. Electrification on the electromagnetic coil is carried out contiguously at the time of switching, and after maintained electrification is controlled by power lower than aforementioned electrification. On the other hand, the time of electrification on the electromagnetic coil is set longer in such a condition that switching resistance is large so as to reduce the whole of power consumption and clutch frictional force. The condition in which a switching resistance is large, is presented for example, when an engine is rotated at a high speed, when electric power supply voltage is reduced, and when the engine is at a high temperature.</p> |
