The present invention relates to a portable hoist comprising a plurality of knock-down components enabling easy transport and assembly of the hoist on different job locations such as the top of a building or the like for hoisting articles up the side of the building. The components forming the hoist include a boom, which is supported at an angle such that one end is elevated relative to the other end of the boom, a hoist mechanism at the one end of the boom, a mechanical counterweight arrangement at the other end of the boom and a wheel assembly including controlling brakes for controlled wheeling of the assembled hoist while in operation. |
