PURPOSE:To provide a blood megakaryocyte growth factor having an action to specifically and strongly promoting the growth of blood megakaryocyte and promoting the production of platelet. CONSTITUTION:The objective blood megakaryocyte growth factor is a protein active to promote the growth of blood, megakaryocyte and increase the platelet in peripheral blood, having a molecular weight of 25,000+ or -8,000 and an isoelectric point (pI) of >9, and is free from blood megakaryocyte colony stimulation factor activity. It can be produced by cell culture technique and the production rate can further be increased by the addition of a production promoter to the medium. It is also producible by recombination DNA technique. It has strong action and is effective for the treatment of thrombocytopenia, etc. |
