Isolator of the type comprising a blade link, at a first end, to a first connector and to means allowing a first rotation about itself, during an opening phase, and a second rotation about a shaft, the said blade carrying, at its second end, a contact hammer interacting with a jaw linked to a second connector, characterised in that it comprises means (10A, 13, 14, 20, 21, 29) so that, during an opening operation, after the blade (1) has carried out its rotation on itself causing the electrical disconnection of the hammer (10) and of the jaws (9) the current is first of all tapped off, then switched through the switch (20), the latter opening under the control of an abrupt-break mechanism (29) controlled by the movement of the blade.
