The invention relates to a device for heating a continuous plastic sheet in order to soften it with a view to thermoforming it, of the type comprising a means for transporting the sheet (10) essentially horizontally, a heating means (18) located above the sheet over a defined length and a means for supporting the softened sheet below the latter and substantially vertically in line with the heating means. According to the invention, the supporting means comprises an endless belt (20) driven in synchronism with the sheet and including, on its upper surface, closely-spaced (narrow) reliefs against the top of which the sheet bears.
