PURPOSE:To make possible a uniform optical pumping by a method both side surfaces of a solid state laser medium are formed into convex processed surfaces and the upper and lower surfaces of the laser medium are formed into complete diffusing surfaces. CONSTITUTION:Both side surfaces in the longitudinal direction of a square pillar-shaped solid state laser medium 2 are formed convex lens processed surfaces 3 and the upper and lower surfaces of the medium 2 are formed into complete diffusing surfaces 4. The spread of semiconductor laser beams incided in the surfaces 3 become large and the laser beams reach the surfaces 4. The laser beams which reached 4 are reflected by the surfaces 4, are completely diffused and the interior of the medium 2 is uniformly pumped optically. The optically pumped medium 2 becomes a gain medium to a solid state laser beam and a solid state laser oscillates by a laser resonator, which is constituted of an output mirror 6 and a totally reflecting mirror 5. Thereby, a uniform optical pumping becomes possible. |
