Process for obtaining fatty alcohol derivatives of formula I, in which R1 represents a C1-C30 alkyl group, R2 is hydrogen or a -C(=O)R4 group, where R4 represents C1-C6 alkyl or alkoxy, t is (+) when q = 1 and t indicates nothing when q = 0, R3 is hydrogen or C1-C6 alkyl when q = 1 is a pair of electrons when q = 0, A- is a pharmaceutically acceptable anion. The process causes alcohol R1OH to react with a reagent of the phosgene equivalent type (II, where Y = Cl, Y' = OPh, between 0 and 50 degree C, for between 30 minutes and 24 hours. The product obtained is caused to react with 2-(aminomethyl) pyridine, yielding a product 1a, which reacts with an acid chloride to yield Ib. Products Ia and Ib are converted into Ic and Id respectively by reaction with a lower alkyl halide. These compounds are PAF antagonists, and are useful in the treatment of diseases in which the said substance is implicated. <IMAGE>
