Transponder system (1) for retransmitting alarm information originating from several transmitters to a reception and processing system, comprising an antenna (15) linked by switching means (2), on the one hand, to reception means (3) and, on the other hand, to transmission means (4) in communication with the reception means (3), and means (13) for electrically supplying the said system (1) from a mains (12) or from a battery (14). The transponder system (1) further comprises monitoring and processing means (10) linked, on the one hand, to the reception means (3) and, on the other hand, to the transmission means (4), and means (5, 7) for detecting the state of the electrical power supply means (13) and delivering information on the state of the said electrical power supply means (13). The monitoring and processing means (10) are arranged to monitor the reception means (3) and the transmission means (4) according to a transmission cycle selected from among several predetermined transmission cycles each associated with one power supply mode, on the basis of information on the state of the electrical power supply means (13).
