The catch element is driven by a hydraulic cylinder (15) between open and closed positions. Additional to the hydraulic cylinder operated lever, and connected, another lever can be manually operated to open or close the catch in case of failure of the hydraulic cylinder. USE/ADVANTAGE - Catch mechanism is for a vehicle folding roof such as a cabriolet-type vehicle, incorporating back-up mechanism in case of main catch drive failure.
