The appts. comprises a magnetically susceptible rod not permanently magnetised and extending along a nonmagnetic conduits,and at least two electromagnets outside the conduit to cause rod movement across the conduit when activated successively to produce a vibratory mixing motion of the rod. Each electromagnet pref. comprises a pair of opposite poles spaced along the conduit, with the rod passing both, and the electromagnets are on opposite sides of the conduit. The conduit pref. has a junction at which fluids are brought together coaxially upstream of the rod. The rod is pref. of iron wire protected against corrosion in the fluids.
