A 3-methyleneisoindolin-1-one derivative represented by general formula (I) and a pharmacologically acceptable salt thereof, which are useful as medicine because they have an activity of protecting ischemic cerebral disorders. In formula (I) A and B may be the same or different from each other and each represents -CH= or -N=; Y represents -(CH2)n- (wherein n represents an integer of 1 to 4), etc.; X represents an (un)substituted heterocyclic group, etc.; R<1> and R<2> may be the same or different from each other and each represents alkyl, etc.; and R<3> and R<4> may be the same or different from each other and each represents halogen, alkoxy, etc..
