This coder is used for encoding and transmitting images in digital format, in radio electronics and communication equipment. It reduces the error values and extraction period of an outgoing code, and retains the discharge of the adding and subtracting devices by using positive and negative prediction coefficients. The coder consists of registers (1 and 3), connected to a delay line (2), a subtracting device (4), a scaling device (5) and a first summing device (6). The first normalizing bloc (7) is connected to an input adder (8), to which are linked an input register (9), a quantum bloc (10) and an output code bloc (11). A decoding bloc (12) is connected by a multiplexor (13), adder (14) and a second normalizing bloc (15) to the second register (3). The quantum bloc is connected to the multiplexor.
