The polyethylene oxide derived by this method is used in medicine, pharmacy and cosmetics. It is stable in conservation both in a solid state and in water solution. The method of neutralizing and stabilizing polyethylene oxide - in particular, such containing residues from alkaloid catalyst - is carried out by treating polyethylene oxide in a solid state between 0.1 and 5% weight (as compared to the itaconic acid polymer).
