Ankle joint orthosis - has removable front part which is removed when joint is sufficiently healed to increase comfort of wearer

An ankle joint orthosis consists of a U shaped member which is made from flexible material. The bridge (4) of the U shape fits under the fort whilst the legs (2, 3) of the U shape extend upwards over the ankle bones. The bridge (4) of the U shape extends forwards under the ball of the foot and is connected to side pieces (25) which extend forwards from the legs (2, 3) of the U shape and is fastened to the foot by a strap with a Velcro (RTM) type fastener. The side pieces (25) and their underfoot connecting part are separated from the main part of the orthosis by a line of notches (22). These notches enable the front part (25) to be broken away from the main part of the orthosis when the ankle joint is sufficiently healed. USE/ADVANTAGE - Ankle joint orthosis with removable front part which makes the orthosis more comfortable to the wearer.
