A CCD, camera is produced with a camera head unit (CH) separate from a base unit but connected by a long, lightweight cable (1). The base unit has its own power supply and can receive an external syndronising input. The camera head unit has a clock generator (22) coupled to the CCD devices (21), the outputs of which connect to a processing circuit (49). A coupling circuit (180) has a differential transmitter (2) connected to the coaxial cable (1) for video signal transmission. A second differential transmitter is located in the base unit. ADVANTAGE - Allows connection between head and base by simple, long coaxial cable.
