Hair dyeing agents contg. in a carrier, oxidn. dye precursors consisting of N-(2,4-dihydroxy benzylidene)-amino cpds. of formula (I) in which A is a gp. of formula (II), (III), (IV), (V) or (VI) in which R1 is H or 1-4C alkyl and R2 is 1-4C alkyl, 1-4C alkoxy, COOH or SO3H gp. or salt of these as coupler substance together with developer substances (VII) conventionally used in oxidn. hair dyes.
